  • Our client, a global leading innovator, developer and manufacturer of a wide range of veterinary pharmaceuticals and animal health products is looking for a Materials Manager in the Cambridge, Ontario area. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the future Materials Manager will be responsible for the flow of information and material through the facility, by managing key material-related functions including purchasing, procurement, material planning, production scheduling, inventory control, warehousing, logistics, shipping and receiving. 

    Key responsibilities:
    Purchasing:
    • Maintains relationships with key suppliers and negotiates pricing and terms. 
    • Researches potential vendors for new sourcing opportunities. 
    • Manages all purchasing activity. 
    • Facilitates the qualification of new vendors. 
    • Manages vendor disputes and material/component quality concerns. 
    • Handles Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data. 
    • Develops and maintains key performance metrics.
    Scheduling:
    • Collaborates with the production and the planning teams to optimize the production. 
    • Monitors schedule adherence against the published schedule. 
    • Ensures all work order maintenance activities are complete and up to date. 
    • Coordinates with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) to assure that raw materials are tested and released to accommodate the production schedule. 
    • Leads and facilitates specific meetings, to ensure all material is available in advance of scheduled batch production.
    Inventory Management:
    • Manages inventory to ensure the materials are available for production. 
    • Leads the resolution of the risk material to final disposition. 
    • Enforces cycle count policy and inventory accuracy targets. 
    • Ensures work order inventory reconciliation and back-flushing is completed.
    Continuous Improvement:
    • Evaluates processes and systems to improve flows and information’s accuracy. 
    • Manages the configuration of purchasing and planning parameters to improve planning’s and purchasing’s efficiency. 
    • Supervise, coach and mentor the direct staff.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials and Operations, Finance or any other related field. 
    • Minimum 10 years experience in progressive supply chain roles in a Regulated environment. 
    • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role managing direct reports. 
    • Knowledge, experience and understanding of ERP systems. 
    • MRP analysis skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel. 
    • Understanding of contract language, laws and regulations related to procurement and contracts. 
    • Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. 
    • Collaborative leader that can drive change. 
    • Persuasive, motivational, persistent and strong negotiating skills. 
    • Effective at working in a fast- paced environment, specifically in a leadership capacity 
    • Strong English level, both verbal and written as well as presentation skills. 
    • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
