Compensation: $154,000–$190,000, based on experience

 

PURPOSE

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Field Operations to provide executive leadership and operational oversight across the Company’s field-based operations.

This senior leadership role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, improving consistency and efficiency across geographically distributed operations, and ensuring the effective delivery of services to clients. The Vice President will play a key role in organizational strategy, long-range planning, operational performance, and business growth.

The ideal candidate will bring significant leadership experience within water, wastewater, industrial operations, utilities, infrastructure, process industries, or another technically complex, field-based operating environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Executive Leadership & Operational Management

  • Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and management oversight for Field Operations.
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate operational leaders and teams across multiple locations.
  • Establish operational priorities, performance expectations, processes, and standards to support efficient and consistent service delivery.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and contribute to organizational strategy and long-range planning.
  • Evaluate and advise leadership regarding strategic opportunities, investments, partnerships, acquisitions, mergers, and other growth initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to support project bids, proposals, and business development initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level support and leadership for complex projects and operational challenges.

Field & Technical Operations

  • Oversee operational processes and standards necessary to ensure the efficient, safe, and timely delivery of products and services to clients.
  • Provide leadership across field operations, technical services, logistics, procurement, and other operational functions as appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Establish consistent operating practices and performance standards across geographically distributed operations.
  • Support the implementation and effective use of operational technologies, systems, and data to improve performance and decision-making.
  • Promote professional development, technical training, and cross-training throughout the organization.

Strategic & Business Operations

  • Participate in long-range strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Evaluate operational capabilities and resource requirements to support current and future business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and strengthen operational performance.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure field operations are appropriately aligned with financial and strategic objectives.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Assist in the development and management of operational budgets.
  • Review and approve expenditures in accordance with Company policies and delegated authority.
  • Develop and maintain operational reports, performance metrics, and other management information.
  • Utilize business systems, reporting tools, and data to support informed decision-making.

Technology & Systems

  • Support and promote the effective use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) across field operations.
  • Leverage operational data, analytics, automation, and monitoring technologies to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and operational data analytics is highly desirable.

Other Responsibilities

  • Travel frequently, including domestic and international travel, as required to support field operations and business activities.
  • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge relevant to operational leadership and the Company’s industry.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline; equivalent senior-level experience may be considered.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in field operations, industrial operations, utilities, water/wastewater, infrastructure, process industries, or another technically complex operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed teams and operations.
  • Strong executive leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management capabilities.
  • Experience developing and managing operational budgets and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational processes, efficiency, reliability, and service delivery.
  • CMMS experience is required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Highly Preferred

  • Executive leadership experience in water and wastewater management or related utility operations.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, remote monitoring, automation, and operational data analytics.
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, operations and maintenance, or other full-lifecycle infrastructure operations.
  • Experience operating across multiple geographic locations or international markets.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain required international travel documentation.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position will provide direct leadership and oversight to senior operational leaders, including Directors of Operations, Field Office or Regional General Managers, Operations Coordinators, and other operational personnel.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is performed through a combination of office-based leadership and frequent field and site engagement. The position requires the ability to travel regularly and perform site visits as necessary.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes office settings, operational facilities, industrial sites, and field locations. Frequent domestic and international travel is required.
