Our client, a forward-thinking insurance is seeking a visionary Chief Underwriting Officer specializing in Accident & Health (A&H) insurance to lead their team and play a critical role in building and leading the A&H underwriting operations. This role transcends traditional underwriting, demanding a strategic focus on building a profitable book of business. Your key responsibilities will encompass identifying potential opportunities, formulating underwriting guidelines, adeptly managing risk, and propelling profitable growth in the A&H insurance market. This role reports directly to the CEO.
     
    Responsibilities:
     
    Underwriting Leadership:
    • Develop A&H underwriting strategies aligned with company objectives and risk appetite.
    • Lead and mentor the underwriting team for consistent excellence.
    • Oversee risk assessment, policy terms, pricing, and compliance.
    Portfolio Management and Profitability:
    • Identify partnerships for profitable A&H growth.
    • Analyze market trends for product improvement.
    • Manage A&H portfolio for profitability and risk mitigation.
    Underwriting Guidelines and Policy Development:
    • Establish comprehensive underwriting guidelines.
    • Collaborate on customer-centric insurance products.
    • Regularly update guidelines for market trends.
    Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Develop robust risk management frameworks.
    • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Collaborate on prompt regulatory matters.
    Market Analysis and Business Development:
    • Conduct market research for growth opportunities.
    • Build relationships with stakeholders for market penetration.
    • Collaborate on distribution and retention strategies.
     Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field (Advanced degrees or certifications preferred).
    • Minimum of 10 years of A&H insurance underwriting experience, with leadership and management roles.
    • In-depth knowledge of A&H insurance products, underwriting practices, and industry standards.
    • Strong understanding of risk assessment, pricing models, and actuarial concepts in A&H insurance.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance considerations for A&H insurance.
    • Proven track record of building and growing a profitable A&H insurance book of business.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven decisions.
