Our client, a forward-thinking insurance is seeking a visionary Chief Underwriting Officer specializing in Accident & Health (A&H) insurance to lead their team and play a critical role in building and leading the A&H underwriting operations. This role transcends traditional underwriting, demanding a strategic focus on building a profitable book of business. Your key responsibilities will encompass identifying potential opportunities, formulating underwriting guidelines, adeptly managing risk, and propelling profitable growth in the A&H insurance market. This role reports directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting Leadership:
- Develop A&H underwriting strategies aligned with company objectives and risk appetite.
- Lead and mentor the underwriting team for consistent excellence.
- Oversee risk assessment, policy terms, pricing, and compliance.
Portfolio Management and Profitability:
- Identify partnerships for profitable A&H growth.
- Analyze market trends for product improvement.
- Manage A&H portfolio for profitability and risk mitigation.
Underwriting Guidelines and Policy Development:
- Establish comprehensive underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate on customer-centric insurance products.
- Regularly update guidelines for market trends.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Develop robust risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Collaborate on prompt regulatory matters.
Market Analysis and Business Development:
- Conduct market research for growth opportunities.
- Build relationships with stakeholders for market penetration.
- Collaborate on distribution and retention strategies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field (Advanced degrees or certifications preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of A&H insurance underwriting experience, with leadership and management roles.
- In-depth knowledge of A&H insurance products, underwriting practices, and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, pricing models, and actuarial concepts in A&H insurance.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance considerations for A&H insurance.
- Proven track record of building and growing a profitable A&H insurance book of business.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven decisions.
