Reeling for Ronnie Fishing Tournament Keeps on Giving

Every year Lock Search Group sponsors a fishing tournament – and it’s a tournament that brings immense pleasure and satisfaction to the many participants. This year we continue the tradition of giving back to the community for the 9th year in a row through the Reeling for Ronnie Fishing Tournament. We plan to raise more than $10,000 once more, as we have done each year since the tournament’s inception. June 22-June 25th are the dates of this year’s tournament.

Through the generosity of the men and women who come out for 3 glorious days of fishing in Haida Gwaii, off the coast of British Columbia, we have been able to accomplish two goals: to assist in the education of young people, and to honour the memory of Ron Brown, a Lock Consultant who passed away far too early.

Ron was not only a success in his business life; he was an exemplar of caring for his chosen community of Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. For many Mexican families with children who have dreams of higher education and careers, the Ron Brown Scholarship Fund has made those dreams come true.

In 2009 the Reeling for Ronnie Fishing Tournament was created. The R for R started small, with only a few participants, but now takes over the entire North Island Lodge in Haida Gwaii. During the trip there are auctions, a derby and several other fundraising events that raise thousands of dollars every year. Our participants are generous to a fault. They realize that the money they donate not only makes a difference in the lives of the students we sponsor but also helps transforms a country.

Lock Search Group is proud to be part of this ongoing campaign to enable bright young students to fulfill their potential, and we offer our heartfelt thanks to all those who make this possible.
