    Summary Description:
    Our client works with independent Canadian retailers, supporting their businesses’ growth in an ever-changing marketplace. Together with their parent company, they are the largest buying and marketing group of its kind in North America. 

    Reporting to the AVP of Business Development, the Outbound Business Development Manager’s role is to sell-in services to new and existing accounts. The incumbent will be responsible for increasing the number of members in their respective territory by aggressive prospecting/cold calling, effective networking, and thru a thorough understanding of all company advantages available to its members.

    Successful candidates must have ALL of the following:
    1. Track record in outbound sales, “hunting” for new business
    2. Experience in one or more of the following industries: appliances, electronics, furniture, home décor 
    3. Extensive experience selling “services” (extended warranties, financing plans, memberships, etc.)

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Create an effective territory management plan in order to efficiently manage the sales and recruitment process of independent dealers/retailers
    • Prospect aggressively into the market to develop leads
    • Educate prospects on the advantages of functioning within a commercialized environment
    • Increase closing ratios by effectively handling prospects’ concerns and objectives
    • Visit members in the assigned region(s) on a regular basis 
    • Support organic growth by encouraging current members to benefit from a full range of service offerings and inciting conversion into our banners or networks
    • Increase member loyalty to purchasing from our dealers
    • Work with members to identify their strengths, weaknesses and needs, to develop an action plan for change
    • Work with appropriate internal resources and take responsibility for executing projects and following-up on results
    • Support internal marketing programs
    • Network effectively into relevant associations for increased visibility
    • Foster relationships with key supplier partners to promote new and existing business
    • Participate in trade shows and events where appropriate

    Skills/Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in sales or marketing, ideally coupled with 3 years of related experience
    • Outside sales experience selling services
    • Industry experience in furniture, appliances or electronics 
    • Knowledge of retail operations, an asset
    • Ability to travel extensively 3-4 days per week
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to analyze and solve problems
    • Knowledge/interest in digital marketing
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
