Business Development Manager – OEM Manufacturer (HVAC, Hydronics and Ventilation)

Greater Vancouver Region, BC (Hybrid)

Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group, in partnership with a leading, national OEM Manufacturer in the HVAC, Hydronics and Ventilation sector, is seeking an experienced BDM to support their rapid growth across the BC region. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems and a proven track record with HVAC and Hydronics Systems. We're looking for a self-motivated, collaborative professional who is confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Key focus for this strategic sales position is targeting and partnering with Developers and Mechanical Engineering firms in BC.  Not a role that involves project management, administration and busy work that typically comes with strategic sales positions.

This position will primarily focus on building and strengthening partnerships with developers and large institutional clients. A key responsibility will be promoting and partneing with new and existing client’s at the front end of projects to support the future sale of HVAC solutions, including space heating and cooling, ventilation, and hydronic heat pumps systems for both commercial and residential applications. Following your onboarding, the role will offer a hybrid work arrangement. This includes the flexibility to work a few days from a home office, with the remaining time spent collaborating with the team at a well-appointed company office in the Greater Vancouver region.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with developers, building owners, engineers and institutional stakeholders to promote solutions for commercial and residential projects.
  • Identify and generate new project opportunities, including both new construction and retrofit developments across the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and sales teams to support project development, specifications, and successful project delivery.
  • Support the design, and specification process with HVAC Systems and Equipment Solutions (VRF systems, and Hydronic Equipment being the primary focus)
  • Grow market share and drive revenue by promoting the full portfolio of HVAC products within the assigned region.
  • Engage key institutional and public sector clients such as municipalities, universities, school boards, airports, and housing authorities.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product seminars, and educational sessions to industry stakeholders to demonstrate product value and applications.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and project pipelines, providing regular business intelligence and territory insights to leadership.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and marketing initiatives to strengthen brand presence and generate new business.
  • Support regional marketing initiatives, product launches, and strategic business development activities while ensuring excellent customer service and issue resolution.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5+ years experience in technical sales within the Commercial HVAC space is a must
  • Past track record and relationships with Developers & Engineering Firms in BC is critical for this opportunity
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Business Degree
  • Demonstrated success in working with Developers, municipalities, universities/school boards and other large corporate entities
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Internet Explorer.
  • Understanding of how to read & interpret construction drawings.
  • Positive attitude, exemplary attendance, ethical business practices, and a reliable team member.
  • Willing to travel within the province, and overnight across Canada for meetings, training, and product launches (20-25% travel expectation)
  • Initiative to prospect for new business with a track-record of success managing a key account book of business within a territory.
  • Possess the people-skills to build relationships within the industry – networking is important.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attend trade shows as requested.
  • Ability to support demand and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time and organizational skills
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s Licence
