Our client is looking for a Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. The role is part of the leadership team and decision making but is a hands-on role. The Controller is key to supporting our growth and ensuring financial integrity and insight across the organization. The Controller reports to the President. This hybrid role is two days in-office in Oakville.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements; present to Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with management MD&A
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making
  • Manage Cash Flow, Banking Relationship and Foreign Currency Contracts
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting and internal controls (e.g., GAAP, tax filings)
  • Oversee inventory costing, standard costs, and margin analysis
  • Manage annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
  • Support M&A, systems upgrades that have financial impact, or financing initiatives as needed
  • Initiate software/systems improvements that provide better financial reporting and improve efficiency for Finance Team
  • Supervise and develop a small finance team

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or senior finance role
  • Experience in the medical device, life sciences, or manufacturing/distribution sectors strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, tax, and compliance
  • Proven ability to manage and improve financial systems (ERP experience preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
  • Strong skills in technology
  • Experience in business analytics
