    Our client is a well-respected, customer-centric organization strategically positioned in the electrical sector which supports the industrial, commercial and residential marketplace.  They are very motivated to scale and tactically expand their market share by opening a new division to support wholesale distribution partners within the Data/Comm sector nationally.  They have tasked Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group to find a Director to lead their Data Communication and Security Product division who will be pivotal in building out the team, business, marketing and sales plans, as well spearhead the creation and implementation of operational procedures and systems alongside the executive team.  
     
    The role of the Director of Business Development will be paramount in creating and growing sales, expanding into new markets, building brand presence, and launching new data and telecommunication equipment products in specific market segments. Responsibilities include devising and implementing sales and marketing plans, enhancing brand visibility, and gaining approval for designated products and manufacturers in British Columbia to start, then expanding east.   This intriguing entrepreneurial leadership position reports into the Chief Operating Officer.  The though this position it is not a home-based role, it will be a flexible, hybrid opportunity to ensure a sound work-life balance.  
     
     
    Responsibilities:
     
    • Take charge of direct sales and the approval process for high-value specialty products with wholesale distribution partners
    • Overseeing projects from start to finish in collaboration with end-users, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
    • Achieve company objectives in both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.
    • Offer daily leadership and guidance for projects, suppliers, and approval processes, closely partnering with key suppliers and coordinating with the sales team.
    • Identify, organize, and monitor project opportunities by actively scanning websites and bid portals.
    • Ensure seamless coordination and communication among all project stakeholders and management.
    • Provide project leads to Inside Sales Representatives and executive leadership.
    • Aid in the development and execution of marketing plans, annual sales budgets, and sales initiatives for designated products.
    • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Department and vendors to secure technical and commercial support for projects and new product specification opportunities.
    • Achieving successful sales growth by onboarding new channel partners at both regional and national levels.
    • Ensuring that sales and gross profit levels remain within company targets.
     
    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
    • 5+ years of pertinent experience in sales, sales leadership, and management is essential within the DataComm, telecommunication and security product sectors.
    • Proficient in ERP systems and possess strong analytical skills, capable of utilizing computer systems and dashboards to measure profitability effectively.
    • Proven ability to collaborate and exert influence across various functions within national business settings.
    • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading sales teams to achieve both top-line and bottom-line results.
    • Exceptional negotiation abilities.
    • Preference given to candidates with experience in the telecommunication industry and channel management.
    • Strong sales leadership capabilities, including direct selling proficiency and mentorship skills.
    • Skilled in planning and forecasting for large-scale projects, specialty product opportunities, and programs.
    • Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and integrity.
    • Capable of delivering and executing tasks within a team-oriented environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication aptitude.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment of rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Must possess a valid BC Driver's License.
    • Comfortable with Regional and occasional National Travel
