Our client is actively searching for a Purchasing/Inside Metals Commodity Expert to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of leveraging your comprehensive knowledge to enhance decision-making processes related to inventory management, procurement, and supply chain optimization.     What you will be doing:  
     
    Commodity Experience:
    • Leverage comprehensive knowledge of commodities (hard and soft) and drawing from experience relating to both finance and operations.
    • Apply specialized insights to enhance decision-making related to inventory management, procurement, and supply chain optimization.
     
    Product Market Fit:
    • Analyze market trends and dynamics to ensure product offerings align with customer needs and expectations.
    • Serve as a product specialist, driving alignment between product features and market demands.
     
    Inventory Right Sizing, Min Max, etc:
    • Implement sophisticated inventory management strategies, including right-sizing inventory levels and establishing optimal minimum and maximum thresholds.
     
    Quoting / RFQ / RFP:
    • Spearhead the quotation process, responding to Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP), ensuring precision and competitiveness.
     
    Read Drawings:
    • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and understanding technical drawings relevant to commodities and logistics.
     
    Ability to Read Tech Docs:
    • Navigate and comprehend technical documentation related to commodity specifications and logistics processes.
     
    Strategic Development:
    • Investigate and implement an IMS.
     
    The experience you bring:
     
    • 5+ years of industry experience with a background in commodities, finance, and operations.
    • Expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with demonstrated drawing experience.
    • Proven track record in managing the Quoting/RFP/RFQ process.
    • Established rolodex and successful purchasing experience from China, Indonesia, Dubai, and India.
    • Bonus points for connections at mills or established industry relationships.
    • In-depth understanding of commodity trading rules and familiarity with commodity import regulations, including Dumping Rules.

    Compensation:
     
    • Base Range: $80K-120K
    • Eligible for an annual performance bonus
    • OTE: $120K-160K
