JOB PURPOSE
As Director, Sales and Commercial Excellence, you will be a key member of the Canadian leadership team, responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy to drive product uptake and market growth.
This is a foundational leadership role with the opportunity to build and lead the Canadian sales organization. You will combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, ensuring commercial excellence, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration that supports business success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and implement the Canadian sales strategy in alignment with global objectives and local market dynamics.
• Build and lead the Canadian sales team, in partnership with Regional Sales Managers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on customer engagement and results.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team, contributing commercial insights to inform business decisions.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
• Own key account management strategy and training
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare providers, and institutional stakeholders.
• Design sales operations (territory layouts and customer targets) to best address commercial goals.
• Represent Pharmacosmos at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and market presence.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with Marketing to develop promotional campaigns, training materials, and customer engagement tools.
• Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Regulatory teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies with scientific and regulatory objectives.
Commercial Excellence
• Responsible for building and overseeing the customer management systems (CRM) to best support the needs of the business.
• Monitor sales performance metrics and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
• Design incentive systems to motivate and engage the sales team(s)
Other:
• Demonstrate the Pharmacosmos Values and Way of Working, as well as comply with company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, all applicable Canadian laws and industry regulations governing pharmaceutical operations, including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), health and safety requirements, ethical standards, data privacy legislation, and any relevant Health Canada guidelines. Maintain the highest standards of integrity, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance in all activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field required
• Advanced degree is an asset.
Experience:
• 8+ years of progressive sales experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
• 3+ years in a leadership role, with preference for candidates who have led Sales Managers/Regional Sales Managers.
• Proven track record of leading sales teams nationally.
• Significant experience in hospital key account management settings
• Proven track record of launching specialty care products and driving commercial success.
• Familiarity with Canadian healthcare landscape, reimbursement pathways, and compliance standards.
Skills / Competencies:
• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and customer focus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Travel required – approximately 25%
• Languages: English required, French is an asset
