Manufacturing Sales Representative – OEM Manufacturer HVAC/Plumbing

Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group has partnered with an industry leader from the mechanical manufacturing market to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Sales, Business Development Manager (BDM) for the BC region. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Plumbing, Hydronics and/or HVAC-R industry, with proven experience working, targeting and selling to mechanical contractors (Commercial/Residential), and partnering with Wholesale Distributors to support their pull-through selling model.
The primary focus of the BDM is to develop and maintain consultative relationships by promoting, representing and selling technical equipment and solutions to both new and existing accounts which are made up of both mechanical contractors and wholesales distributors. This includes identifying and nurturing prospective customers, ensuring a high level of post-sale satisfaction, and fostering long-term business relationships. The role is also responsible for creating and executing territory and account plans on an annual, quarterly, and monthly basis to support sales growth and repeat business.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of strategies and tactics for continued growth in this territory for builders, Mechanical and HVAC Contractors and Wholesale Distributors at all levels of the industry.
- Maintains maximum margins for their territory by using and controlling customer related incentives.
- Participates in local, regional and national Trade Shows.
- Tracks local market conditions (housing starts, new developments, code issues etc.) for their territory.
- Plans and supports all field training programs for distributors, heating contractors, plumbing contractors, builders, architects and engineers on all products & company technology. Coordinates efforts with Sales Manager, Field tech and training department.
- Responds to requests for information in a timely manner with regards to product and marketing.
- Manages RMA issues in the territory, takes ownership through completion.
- Maintains and builds a strong company presence and image in the entire sales territory to include an important focus on brand awareness.
- Provides guidance and recommendations to management when political, technical or product problems arise.
- Seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical consultative sales, preferably selling in the HVAC, Plumbing/Mechanical, or Hydronics space
- A thorough knowledge of mechanical products is a must. Mechanical aptitude is essential.
- Post secondary education (Degree or 2-year diploma) desired but not required if industry experience is present within the HVAC or Plumbing sector.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Internet Explorer.
- Understanding of how to read & interpret construction drawings.
- Initiative to prospect for new business with a track-record of success managing a key account book of business within a territory.
- Possess the people-skills to build relationships within the industry – networking is important.
- Ability to travel overnight – minimal (quarterly travel to the Okanagan/Northern BC region)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attend trade shows as requested.
- Ability to support demand and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time and organizational
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License
