About the role

Our client, an international and fast-growing pharmaceutical company, is looking for a Patient Access Director. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our innovative therapies and care reach the patients who need them most.

As part of our founding leadership team, you will help shape the future of market access in Canada — building strategy, processes, and partnerships from the ground up.

You will be responsible for defining and executing market access strategies for our Canadian portfolio, securing optimal reimbursement across public and private payers, and developing patient access programs to support treatment continuity.

This is a hands-on, strategic role - ideal for a market access leader who wants to build from the ground up in a fast-paced affiliate environment.

What you'll do

Market Access & Pricing Strategy

  • Develop and implement integrated market access strategies for current and future products.
  • Own national pricing strategy, including PMPRB submissions, negotiation of product listing agreements (PLAs), and post-listing price and reimbursement management.
  • Develop robust value propositions and health economic models in collaboration with global HEOR teams and external experts.
  • Secure timely and optimal reimbursement across federal, provincial, and private payers by developing robust value propositions, health economic models, and payer engagement strategies.
  • For products in development, lead early scientific advice, gap analysis, and real-world evidence planning ensuring data packages address payer evidence expectations.
  • Lead the development and submission of HTA (CDA/INESSS) and pricing dossiers in collaborating with global teams, and external consultants as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Global Market Access to adapt global strategies for the Canadian context.
  • Provide Canadian insights informing development of global strategies, value dossiers, health economic models, and launch strategies.

Patient Access & Advocacy

  • When needed, design and oversee patient support programs to ensure equitable and continuous access to therapies.
  • Take a lead role in managing patient advocacy groups and stakeholders to understand patient needs and integrate their perspectives into access strategies.
  • Ensure a patient-centric approach in all initiatives, balancing business objectives with societal value.

Cross-functional & External Engagement

  • Partner closely with Medical, Marketing, and Sales teams to align market access priorities with commercial plans and product launches.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with payers, policy makers, and external stakeholders, positioning the company as a collaborative and trusted partner.
  • Represent the company in relevant industry associations and forums on market access and reimbursement issues.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for access initiatives, tracking progress and reporting regularly to leadership.
  • Manage budgets for access programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with Canadian regulations and industry codes of conduct.

What we're looking for

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or related field (Master’s degree an asset).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in market access, pricing, health economics, or patient access within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record leading HTA submissions and payer negotiations in Canada.
  • Experience designing and managing patient support programs is highly desirable.
  • Previous exposure to specialty care products (hematology, oncology, rare disease) preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, reimbursement landscape, and policy environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical and economic data into compelling value stories for payers and policymakers.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build processes and strategies from scratch.

Languages

  • English fluency required; French is an asset.
