Lock Search Group (LSG) is proud to partner with Red Bull Canada in the search for top talent to join their Fraser Valley facility that is currently being constructed in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

 

Cameron Lappin from LSG is leading the recruitment for a Technical Manager to join this globally renowned organization. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Technical Manager is the key person responsible for equipment suppliers of production equipment and all internal stakeholders. You will play a key role in the implementation, maintenance and operational aspects of the pre-mix plant equipment. You will implement a strong team to support production and intra-logistics during operation and manage external companies on-site and online. You will also be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all production and warehouse equipment in the premix production facility. You will ensure that machinery and equipment are operating efficiently and safely to support continuous production and warehousing operations.

Red Bull Canada is motivated to hire the ‘most suitable candidate’ for this critical onsite leadership position.  As such, financial relocation support will be provided to ensure those interested in this opportunity, who are open to residing in the Eastern Fraser Valley region in British Columbia, are supported accordingly.  Please note, preference will be given to those already ‘locally’ residing in the BC Fraser Valley market.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for all production and warehouse equipment.
  • Oversee routine and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations also in close relationship with HQ operations
  • Serve as the plant’s subject matter expert for automated equipment, robotics, PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, conveyors, scaling systems, and bulk ingredients handling
  • Oversee troubleshooting for production line automation issues to minimize downtime and maintain throughput.
  • Implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime.

 

Team Management

  • Supervise and manage the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the maintenance team.
  • Advise the team to be supportive towards the other departments
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, automation specialists, and technical operators.
  • Build a culture focused on food safety, personal safety, equipment care, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage training, skill development, and succession planning for the technical team.

 

Operational Efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of production and warehouse equipment.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reduce costs.
  • Standardize process parameters, automation settings, and change control
  • Analyze line performance data to identify bottlenecks, waste, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Improve MTBF of critical assets and maintain component MTTF > industry benchmark

 

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies (HQ).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of established equipment, safety and maintenance practices.
  • Develop, revise, and enforce SOPs for Confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Point person for machine guarding and technical safety of manufacturing and ASRS equipment
  • Develop, maintain and audit food-specific process safety hazard control (DHA - Dust Hazard Control)

 

Inventory Management

  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools required for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Coordinate to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of maintenance supplies
  • Manage the accuracy of inventory in the CMMS or ERP system (e.g., SAP PM)
  • Create and maintain BOMs for maintenance assemblies, with critical spare parts for each equipment asset.
  • Use the system to record consumption, track stockouts, and support preventive maintenance planning.

 

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs.
  • Prepare regular reports on equipment status, maintenance activities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

 

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Manage relationships with specific external service providers and contractors for pre-mix facility maintenance and repair services.
  • Lead regular business reviews with key suppliers to address issues, trends, and improvement opportunities (Quality of work review)
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications for equipment, spare parts, critical components, and service contracts

 

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting costs and tracking expenditures.
  • Manage maintenance and technical budgets within targets
  • Report monthly budget variances and implement corrective actions for overages.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations related to equipment maintenance and safety, also compliance with HQ rules and standards.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices and propose opportunities to HQ if needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experiences will be considered.
  • BC Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Mechanic/Millwright)
  • Red Seal Endorsement (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial environment and managing people
  • Proven experience in managing a maintenance team and overseeing equipment maintenance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in using production management and project management software and tools (SAP, PLCs).
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan and execute maintenance projects.
  • Familiarity with Canadian health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, is an asset.
  • This position operates in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to various food ingredients, production equipment, and warehouse conditions.

 

 

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $140-150K annually. The actual base salary for this position may depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. At Red Bull, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. This position will also be supported with a strong annual bonus incentive plan, RRSP matching program and excellent benefits.
